What are the symptoms?
Payments are not processed properly with the ePDQ payment gateway, and you’ll see the error code: “MERCHANT NOT ACTIVE “ on your page. or from your ePDQ error log
What does this error mean?
Most likely, you haven’t processed payments in test mode first and headed straight to process your payments in live mode.
This is a requirement so that the ePDQ team can see that you can process successful transactions even in test mode before processing transactions in live mode. You’ll also have to make sure that you have activated your test account.
How can you resolve the issue?
1. Setup your ePDQ plugin with your ePDQ test account.
Follow our setup guide, and you’ll have to make sure that you are using the test ePDQ account for this time.
How to know if you are using the ePDQ test account? When you have logged in, look at the Barclaycard logo. To the right of it, you will see TEST in red like this:

2. Process test transactions in test mode.

3. Activate your test ePDQ account.
From your ePDQ account home screen, you can find the home screen selection, which will only display if the account is inactive.
Click the Activate your account link, and after that click, the ‘I accept the general conditions’ button to activate the account.
Once the account is activated, you’ll see a congratulatory message similar to the screenshot below:
