How To Take Pre-authorization Payments From Tyl by NatWest

How does Pre Authorization work?

A pre-authorization transaction reserves funds on a customer’s credit card. It does not charge the card until you perform a Completion (Ticket Only) transaction and/or confirm the order shipment (using an option available in Reports).

If you would like to set this for your site while using our Tyl by NatWest for WooCommerce, you can set the option labeled as Operation to Pre-authorization. Like so:

Creating a test purchase

After setting it up, you can proceed in creating a test purchase and have access to the successful orders or transactions within the back office. You can also check out our article regarding how you can make a test payment in test mode.

Processing the purchase in the back office (step by step)

• After a successful test purchase, you will need to proceed in your Tyl by NatWest’s back office and proceed in Reports > Orders. From here, you will be prompted with options to filter the orders that you need to view, like so:

• Submit the query and you should be able to view the orders you have received related to the filters you have set. Click on the Order number of the transaction that you would like to accept the payment from:
  
• You will then be redirected to the order’s details and from this window, you will be able to enter the right amount for the order’s completion, check out the screenshot below for more visuals regarding this:
  

• Click on the “Completion” button to finalize the transaction. Once this is successful, you will be redirected to the next window where the debit is labeled as APPROVED, like so:
