Is a Separate License Required for a Staging or Development Site?

If you’re using a 1-site license and wondering whether it supports staging or development environments, the answer is yes.

You do not need to purchase additional licenses to use the plugin on staging, testing, or development sites.

How It Works:

When you activate a 1-site license, it includes support for:

  • One production (live) website.
  • Any number of staging, development, or local environments.

As long as your staging or dev site uses a permitted domain, it won’t count against your license. Check the list here to see which domain types are supported.

Recognised Staging and Development Environments:

Our licensing system (powered by our partner Freemius) automatically identifies staging and development environments based on your site’s domain or subdomain.

Friendly Note: You can use as many staging/dev environments as needed; there is no limit. Your production domain is the only one that uses an activation.

If you’re using a custom staging URL that doesn’t match a recognised pattern, it may count as a live site. In that case, please contact our support team, and we can verify or assist with whitelisting your staging or development URL.
