How to resolve Unpaid Order Cancelled – Time Limit Reached?

If you’ve encountered the “Unpaid Order Cancelled – Time Limit Reached” error on your WooCommerce Orders dashboard, this guide will help you understand what it is, why it happens, and how to resolve it.

What is this error and what does it do?

This error appears in the Order notes section when you view an order in WooCommerce > Orders dashboard. It indicates that an order has been cancelled due to a time limit for holding unpaid stock being reached. To continue processing this order, you’ll need to manually update the order status.

What causes this error and how can I fix it?

The error is caused by WooCommerce’s “hold stock” feature. This feature allows you to set a specific time limit for holding stock for unpaid orders, during which the order status is set to pending. If the time limit is reached and the order remains unpaid, the order status will be changed to cancelled.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your WooCommerce dashboard.
  2. Click on Settings > Products > Inventory.
  3. In the “Hold stock (minutes)” field, remove the existing value to disable the feature.

This will prevent orders from being automatically cancelled due to time limits on holding unpaid stock.
