The AG Yearly Round Up – 2016

Posted in Business

In 2016 We are AG celebrated its 3rd year of life – can you believe it??? Where has the time gone…? It was another great year full of exciting projects, new clients, rollercoasters journeys and some good learning in between.

We got a new look!

There’s a lot of pressure on a website of a web developer. It’s more immediate than a portfolio, it’s the entry point for any potential customer browsing around looking for a web developer.  And I’m committed to show them that they landed in the right place. That’s why I am working on a new website for We are AG, this time using Sass to show off some of my skills.

Sass (Syntactically Awesome StyleSheets) is an extension of CSS. Sass allows you to use things like variables, nested rules, inline imports and more. It also helps to keep things organised and allows you to create stylesheets faster. As a result, the new website will be quicker on loading and it will also feature fully custom WooCommerce elements. Stay tuned to see what’s brewing!

New plugins

Property Stack (the property solution I started in late 2014) has grown from a simple property plugin to a fully integrated Saas business built on top of WordPress.

Just before Christmas we had our first customer go live on the network with a full custom theme built around the plugins I have developed, the best one being a 360 degree virtual tour of their properties. http://bpmestates.com/

And… drumroll… Today our second customer has gone live with the same package (full custom site on the network)! http://arlingtonresidential.com/

This customer had also required some exciting and funky custom functions that we’ve built into the site, such as a live currency converter integrated with Google finance API to make use of real-time prices, an in-depth property search by location and postcode to narrow down the searched locations plus a custom Google map – why have such a lovely design and use a standard, rather dull  Google map? Also a number of cookies were added to store the visitor sections, saving returning visitors the frustration of having to select the same items over and over.

The Property stack team now have a fully working platform, we are able to design sites and branding in-house. We are also able to optimise and establish social media resource and property PR for our clients, if required. We are super happy with the progresses we have made with Property Stack so far. It’s still a long haul but the future is not just bright the future is looking awesome!

We are AG… Abroad!

Early in 2016 I spent a few weeks in Jávea on the sun-kissed beaches of Spain. After a few messages back and forth with another digital nomad friend of mine, I jumped on a plane and didn’t looked back (for a while at least…). Jávea is such an amazing place to work from. The old town is beautiful and the vibe is truly unique. I do miss working in the caves at the Sun and co!

On 24th June I attended my first WordCamp EU. I was shocked by the size of the event and the number of people there. This year it took place in Vienna, which was another first time for me. I’m always amazed by how friendly the WordPress community is (no matter if it’s at local or international events). This time as well I met very interesting people and I came back with some new friends. With the excuse of a super-hot day I also managed to sneak out a few times and enjoy some sightseeing and a lovely ice cream!

The next WordCamp EU will be in Paris and my tickets are already booked!

Finally, our lovely clients!

Last, but not least, a huge THANK YOU to all our clients. I am very lucky to work with such a bunch of lovely people. Thank you for trusting us and for being the stepping stone of our success. We thoroughly enjoy working with every one of you. Knowing that the solutions we developed have enhanced your business performance puts a smile on my face and inspire us to work harder through the ups and downs of running a business. I really look forward to working with you again in 2017 and for many more years to come!
